Case study

Highcastle Logistics: A Custom Freight Booking System

Highcastle Logistics needed customers to book freight space against a published weekly loading schedule. Purple Triangle built a custom WordPress freight booking system to do exactly that.

Client Context

Highcastle Logistics is a freight business whose customers need to know when loads leave and how to reserve space. [Add client background: who they serve and when the project ran.]

The Challenge

Standard booking plugins are built for appointments, not freight. Highcastle needed bookings tied to a weekly loading schedule that customers could see before they booked.

Objectives and Strategy

What success needed to look like

  • Publish a clear weekly loading schedule customers can check
  • Let customers book freight space online against that schedule
  • Give the Highcastle team one place to manage bookings

Our approach

Instead of forcing an appointment plugin to handle freight, we scoped and built a custom, white-label freight booking plugin in phases, designed around Highcastle’s own schedule and booking rules.

What We Built

  1. Process Mapping

We documented how Highcastle schedules loads and takes bookings.

  2. Schedule and Booking Engine

We built the published weekly loading schedule and the booking flow on top of it.

  3. Admin Tools

We built admin screens for the team to manage schedules and bookings.

  4. Phased Delivery

Each phase was tested and delivered before the next began.

Three Outcomes

A Published Schedule

Customers can see the weekly loading schedule on the website.

Online Freight Booking

Customers book freight space online against that schedule.

One Place to Manage It

The team manages schedules and bookings from the WordPress admin.

Lessons and Continuing Work

Freight booking rules are specific to each operator, which is why a custom plugin made more sense than adapting an appointment tool. [Add any continuing work or next phases.]
